Addgene was founded in 2004 and is located in Massachusetts, USA. It is a non-profit organization initially established by three Chinese scientists with the aim of helping scientists better share and collect plasmids.
Addgene will receive plasmids stored by scientists from many countries. When scientists publish research papers, they will store the relevant plasmids in Addgene.
Then, when other scientists read the literature, they can easily obtain these plasmids through Addgene for future experimental research.
Addgene's mission
Accelerate scientific research and discovery by accelerating the research and sharing of useful materials and information such as plasmids, viruses, and libraries.
In addition to plasmids, Addgene also collects products such as plasmid libraries, AAV viruses, lentiviruses, antibodies, etc. As of now, Addgene has a total of 122816 plasmids (from 5499 laboratories) and 768 viruses (including 742 AAV viruses and 26 lentiviruses), which are distributed to 111 countries worldwide. In the future, Addgene will also begin distributing antibody products and provide some data results on the application of these antibodies in laboratories for global scientists to refer to. At the same time, Addgene has also established a data sharing center for AAV viruses, sharing the latest research results of scientists around the world in AAV.
Next, we will introduce Addgene AAV Data Hub (AAV Data Sharing Center) to you
About Addgene Data Hub
https://datahub.addgene.org/
Addgene believes that sharing data can enhance researchers' capabilities, accelerate research and discovery. Addgene's data center is an actively planned space that allows researchers to upload and access reports on the performance of Addgene materials under various experimental conditions.
Our team of scientific experts will review the submitted materials to ensure their reliability and transparency. Addgene makes it easy to share so that others can learn from your work, while you can quickly find the data you need.
As a contributor, you will support the openness of science and experimental reproducibility, and your work will be recognized and help other scientists conduct experiments!
The data center contains carefully planned technical reports from the research community, showcasing the performance of Addgene products under various experimental conditions. This allows you to have a better understanding of the tools being researched and used.
Reward Experience
When you contribute your data, your behavior supports the openness and experimental reproducibility of science, and your research work is recognized and helps other scientists advance their knowledge in their field. You may get Addgene swag!
AAV Data Report
Addgene's Data Hub provides scientists with a platform to share their approaches and results using AAV vectors. This community driven resource sharing fills the gap between published scientists and unpublished scientists in troubleshooting AAV methods.
The benefits of sharing
Sharing data through a data hub enhances user capabilities and accelerates research and discovery.
By contributing these resources, you will increase your knowledge base, save time and money for you and your colleagues, and ultimately accelerate scientific progress. You can share the steps to solve the problem, negative result data, and other detailed information that is usually not included in traditional publications, all of which will help you collaborate with other researchers on AAV. In addition, you will receive rewards for submitting data!
Winning recognition for your work
Received appreciation from your peers
Get some prizes!
Cuhhently, Addgene has shared reports on 142 AAV viruses. In 2023, Addgene will launch a report on antibody usage.
